From 1990 to today
Our story
The altitude at the foot of Monte Amiata, the tradition of the Tuscan Maremma, a deep knowledge of olive oil.
For many years the mill was run privately by a man who wove close ties with the land where he lives and built up his experience over more than thirty years of work.
Then came the idea of giving growers more strength by building a network of social ties within a cooperative, linked to the land and to the other cooperatives of the Maremma — and the need to fight the long-standing problem of small producers abandoning their olive groves.
The wish to showcase the produce of an area which, thanks to its terrain and its history, is one of the best suited in the world to growing olives for oil.
This land, with its mild climate, its steep slopes and olive groves that have yielded precious fruit for generations, shows all its strength and all its fragility.
Growing, harvesting and milling olives has become uneconomic in an ever more industrialised production cycle. This land needs to value the individual grower and the uniqueness of what each one harvests.
We want to carry the tradition forward, working with the care that craftsmanship demands, with respect for the environment and a commitment to a distinctive product. Our cooperative aims to be a bridge between the past and the future, helping to preserve and share the authentic flavours of our land, of the Maremma, of Tuscany.
